Sound Card driver help for a windows XP user(noob who knows nothing about computer!)
The sound on my computer used to work but then one day while I was on the computer the sound just cut off and stopped working. I thought he was the speakers at first so I went to check on it and found out that the computer thinks there are no speakers attached to it when there are. I setup wires for the speakers and still no sound comes out. My parent tried to fix it by reinstalling the sound driver but he said he didn't know which type my computer had and doesn't know what program deleted the sound drivers. So is there anyway for me to fix this whole sound driver problem??? I have a Dell dimension 3000 and windows XP by the way.

Welcome to Windrivers Hitchin4life.
You could start off by running Everest to ID your hardware.Freeware.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
You can also go to the below site=Dell Support.
http://support.dell.com/support/down...os=WW1&osl=EN#
Click on Audio at Dell Support and download the driver.
It is always a good idea to go to the system devices in control panel
and uninstall any present drivers.
The file is compatible with the following systems running the following operating systems
Systems Operating systems
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000
Dimension 3000
Dimension 4600

Did you actually try a new set of speakers? Are they powered speakers? Do those speakers work on say your mp3 player?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
