Visioneer 9420 device driver gives (Code 39) error.

Actual error msg copied from pop up:

WINDOWS CANNOT LOAD THE DEVICE DRIVER FOR THIS HARDWARE. THE DRIVER MAY BE CORRUPTED OR MISSING. (CODE 39)Removed old scanner

Scanner new. Installed driver from the CD that came with scanner.

    Uninstalled/Installed software/scanner several times.

    Used another USB cord.

Checked Control Panel: System> 'Hdwe Tab" > device mgr> imaging device> shows 9420 driver installed. (! mark next to driver entry.)

    Checked, I have no virus/adware/spyware.

software/driver as Instructed. (last scanner (Visioneer1000 $39 installed & worked for 5/6 yr)

    Thanks,

    HW

    Welcome to Windrivers kixdrt

    try the updated driver here

Visioneer support site is down at the moment, but the driver downloads ok

Visioneer stress the importance of removing ALL of the previous software first. To do this go into safemode and use add/remove programs to uninstall the visioneer stuff. Then into device manager to uninstall the scanner.

Reboot to normal mode BUT DO NOT CONNECT THE SCANNER. Ensure every trace of the scanner has gone.
Turn off your antivirus and other internet or spyware security as this can interfere with the driver installation.
Run the drivers listed above and DO NOT connect the scanner until the drivers ask you to. If they don't ask, reboot after the driver installation and wait untill Windows is fully and completely loaded (no hour glass on the mouse) and all icons by the clock showing. Then connect the scanner.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
