    Bird on the Wire

    Leonard Cohen's Bird on the Wire, perhaps a strange choice. Cohen is brilliant, but as much as I love him, I must confess that he is neither an accomplished singer nor an accomplished guitarist. But this song is quite amazing. To be successful, a song must function a relatively superficial "literary" level; because you are not reading it, its impact must be immediate. Cohen succeeds at this level. There is, however, wealth of depth, complexity, and humour packed away here beneath the surface -- Cohen must have been very pleased with himself when he finished this one. My favourite performance of the song is the one on the Songs from a Room album; here he sounds somewhat intoxicated, most fittingly so.

    There are many, many, many songs that do things to me (I am getting long in the tooth), but perhaps the one that evokes what I would have liked humanity to perceive and be is ;

    What a Wonderful World

    That is a great tune...
    Having played music for years I really don't think I could drill it down to one song. To many genres to choose a favorite from!

    Depends on the mood, lots of favourites - could never say just one song is my all time favourite.
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    After some thought, I'd have to say "Lucky Man".
    I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

    I don't know about an absolute favorite, but one song I never seem to get sick of is Orion by Metallica.

    "White Room" by Cream
    "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin a close second
    I'm good enough.

    Man, what a tough question.

    "I Wish You Peace" by the Eagles, from the One Of These Nights album.
    If only you knew what's inside of me now,
    You wouldn't want to know me, somehow.
