    Generic XP VGA driver

Just installed an ASUS PL5D2 Mb and attempting to install the ASUS/ATI AX300 drivers, but the system bombs out saying that it cannot detect the standard VGA driver. Tried reinstalling that but cannot find a VGA driver on the XP Pro SP1 or 2 CD's. A search on the web for it has not turned up any results. So I am wondering who might know where I get one of these for XP Pro SP2.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Windrivers scuzzi

What does device manager have to say about your video?

Did you install the chipset drivers first?

Device manager says the card is not working. No driver installed.
Computer startup says it has found hardware device and wishes to install sotfware but either Auto or manual using the card makers cd it keeps telling me that the VGA driver must be installed first.
    Thanks

OK, did you install the chipset drivers?
What error code does device manager display for the video?
Have you got another video card to try? It is possible that the video card is dying and although you have a picture, it cannot identify itself properly and therefore cannot install the drivers.

All chipset drivers went in without error. I actually rolled back the system by two days to try and find the original vga driver but it appears to have gone... somewhere! However, the ASUS drivers for the video card are in place and the system appears to be working perfectly. At this stage it appears to be 'Case Closed'.

    Many thanks for your help.
