The awflash.exe program is used to update Award BIOS's. If you have an AMI BIOS, you need to use one of the amfl___.exe programs.
Also, spelling and syntax are VERY important. If you don't follow Acer's update instructions exactly the process will, at least, not work or, at worst, screw up your system.
Good luck.
When all else fails.....FDISK!

Yeah, sometimes it's very important to get flash utility directly from manufacturer's site. You should use awardflash for AWARD
BIOS, AMIflash - for AMI, and of course Phoenix flash util - for Phoenix.
And You should type file.name exactly as it is. You can rename that file, if You want to make it easyer.
But make sure it's not zipped or somehow else compressed file!
All uncompressed BIOS fils usually have either 128K,either 256K,or sometimes even 512K length.
And of course, make sure You have downloaded right version of BIOS...

You tried "aflash" util? So far I remember,it is flash utility from ASUS. And that utility looking for ASUS BIOS hook presence and uncompatible with rest of flash utilites...
