Well, us Ol' Timers are still here. We don't make much noise. But we're still lurking in the shadows.

    Bwha-haa-haa!

Just like after the Exodus, Egypt continued to be the Premiere World Empire, no matter how "irreplaceable" the Jewish people may have thought they were.
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

I miss some of the old guard. I still cherish memories of arguing with confus-ed about a data recovery program which he swore wouldn't work as advertised. He had never used it, never heard of it, hadn't visited their home page, had never read a review of it, but it just didn't work. It didn't cost enough. Well, maybe kolokythaki can come to visit. Noo, I promise I won't post anymore Greek jokes if he does.

I think much of the lack of activity on the political scene is just burnout. All the news about the Bush administration is relentlessly sleazy and depressing. My party controls Congress, and all they can do is a series of cheap, meaningless displays about the war in Iraq. Oh, I almost forgot! They are working with the Republicans in a fine display of bi-partisanship to pass legislation making it easier to hide earmarks in proposed laws!

Even on forums that have more active political postings, they are very tightly constrained. It can be difficult to express an opinion without getting some monitor riled enough to ban you. It seems to a matter of personality as much as anything. For example, I just got banned on one simply because I referred to a moderator (and not the moderator on the political forum) as a "knuckle-walking, snot-sucking Neanderthal with a penis that would humiliate a hamster and an even smaller brain." Go figure.

What I like about this forum, is that I could never conceive making a similar remark about any of the mods here. BTW, do I get suck-up points for this?

Gee, I guess the truth must have hurt! And, gratz on the masterful avoidance of antagonizing the mods here.

Perhaps if you had referred to him as a microcephalic, severely penile-impaired, mucus-munching, brachiating, beetle-browed anthropological throwback, they would not of been so put out.

Maybe, but it would have been so much trouble explaining it that I would have just gotten more annoyed and far more graphic. On this forum, I mostly just get edited, with the occasional deleted post.
