Post Soyo SY-K7VTA-B , Do I need to load UDMA 66 Drivers?

I used to have an older Soyo board, on which I had to load UDMA 66 drivers to get my two HDD which are UDMA66 to run at that speed. I now have the SY-K7VTA-B, and the drivers do not come with the motherboard cd, or on the soyo site. However, Highpoint does the drivers for the soyo boards I beleive. Do I need to find my drivers, or are my drives already running at 66 speed? Thanks.

As far as I know you don't need any drivers to enable UDMA66. You simply need to use UDMA66 cables (80 wire) and the controller, along with the hard drive have to support it. During the post you should see a message regarding the hardrive, model, size and whether it's 33 or 66. I also think that Highpoint makes RAID controllers...and for that you probably will need a driver.

    Cool

There are 4 requirements to attain Ultra ATA/66

    1. The HD must Support ATA/66 or ATA/100
    2. The MB and system BIOS or add on controler must support 66/100
    3. The Operating System must support DMA usually win95B and above.
    4. The Cable must be a 80 pin conductor.

Installing the 80 pin conductor the blue connector must be plugged into the MB.

    Hope that Helps
    Good Luck

ohhh...and to add to what Anna said... make sure the master is connected to the last connector..and the slae in the center connector. It should be marked on the cable.
