Welcome to Windrivers tfrich.
If the fan for the CPU is not working, it may simply be faulty or not plugged into the right place or the motherboard may indeed be fried - or the CPU has fried and therefore the motherboard won't work.
You didn't say whether you got any video output... do you? Did you get any beeps (if you connected the speaker in the case to the motherboard)?
here are the motherboard details Have you got the motherboard manual? If not you can download it there and check what you have done so far.

5 fans? Overkill and what wattage is the power supply?
What do you mean by daisied? How have you got them connected?.. all into the one 12volt supply from the power supply or to fan headers on the motherboard?

Your keyboard was ps2 or usb? Do you have a spare keyboard?

The power switch on the rear isolates the power supply from the electricity supply, it does not switch on the computer, but allows electricity to reach the power supply.

The front power on button will work if you have the rear power supply switch on.

Most computers you have to press and hold the front power button to get it to switch off, for up to 5 seconds. The reset button is available on most cases, but does not necessarily have a hook up to the motherboard. If it doesn't the reset switch won't work.

are you saying the header names on the motherboard don't match the names on the case wires?
The case wires end in little plugs. What is written on each of those plugs and what colour wire feeds into each of those plug?
Have you managed to connect the case speaker?

Have you got a video card in there at all? If not, put in the agp card and see what happens.

Could you please just write it out like this?
Plug with Reset written on it. Two wires - blue and white
Plug with Speaker written on it. Two wires - red and black. Empty plug in between.
That way I can work out what you actually have.

Why not try here:
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Dow...nuID=6&LanID=0
and see if the manual and pictures are available.
Enter motherboard, socket 754, and 755-a2.
You should be able to find the revision number for the board ON the board, usually in big letters.
edit: although it appears only V1 is available anyway - lol

You have more than one pair of wires coming from the case.
Never mind, I looked it up for you
2.4.LED’s and Front Panel Leads-
Power SW, black and white - attach white side to Pin 6, black side to pin 8
Power LED, black and green pin blank in middle - attach green side to Pin 2, black side to pin 4
HDD LED, red and black - attach red side to pin1, black side to pin 3
Reset SW, black and white - attach black side to pin 5, white side to pin 7
Speaker is attached to bank just above and is called SPK1
Speaker, red and black, two pins blank in middle - attach red side to pin1, black to pin 4.
See page 10 and 11 of the user manual (which adobe says is page 32!)

in this case you need to very carefully cut the plug down the middle. You can do it with a pair of side cutters. If you line it up and apply pressure, the empty plug will crack down the middle. You can then take a stanley knife or craft knife and pare away the excess so that you end up with two whole, but separate plugs.
Since it is only the power led, if you don't want to do that, you can simply not have an led lit up when the power is on... it's not like you can't tell with all those fans going!
