    Keyboard key settings

    Hi!

Where exactly do I go to change the number of keys that can be pressed in the keyboard?

I looked in BIOS but found little or no options regarding the keyboard.

    Welcome to Windrivers Starbuzz

    What do you mean by
the number of keys that can be pressed in the keyboard?
Are you talking about the keyboard buffer? How many keys can be typed ahead?

Thank you for your warm welcome, NooNoo!

Sorry as I should have explained it a bit more. I talked to some of my buddies and thay say it has to with keyboard rollover.

I looked it up and this is exactly my problem:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_%28key%29

I have a pretty decent Compaq keyboard but I it undergoes keyboard jamming.

Have you got the proper drivers for this keyboard?
    What OS do you have?
Does the jamming happen in a command line only OS?

As the linked articles indicate ("Only a small number of high-end keyboards have n-key rollover. Most have 3-key rollover"), it's a function of the internal design of the keyboard. You need to find a keyboard with a high rollover capability, it can't be altered by any BIOS setting.

Yes, all drivers have been installed and has been working fine. I have XP SP2. And this happens only during gaming where multiple keystrokes are constantly required.

So, it's my keyboard...3-key rollover type. I tested it during a game and it can exactly read only 3 keystrokes.

Time for a new keyboard for me. Thank you all for your great help.

Are you sure that it's not another bottleneck in your system?

What are your system specs? What game?

    Hello NooNoo,

Yes, I think this is entirely keyboard related. I just used the Dragon gaming keyboard that came with my case it works perfectly fine now. Bah, so much for trying to save that keyboard!

As for the game, pretty much any game. I was playing C&C: Renegade and noticed keyboard limitations when flying the helicopters in that game.

As for the system specs, I just took screenshots after running dxdiag (I was a bit too lazy to type it all out )
