    Angry vista driver for MD 9848 from Medion

    Are there Vista-drivers for my Scanner MD 9848 from Medion out there?
    I have read something about compatability to the Mustek Scanner 600 III EP.
    At http://www.mustek.com.tw/Download/dr.../600iiiep.html
    there are only drivers for Windows XP. They will not install under Windows Vista.
    I have read, that I have to change something in the registry, if I want to install the drivers for the Mustek Scanner.
    I am not sure, if I should try that, since changes in the registry can lead to system failures.

    I definetly would not try that.I would email the company that made your scanner and see what they say.
    In the end it's likely there wont be any drivers for it

    Talking Medion

    I took a look at the Medion Supportsides and they want 5€ for a support email. I think I will buy myself a used PC and install Windows 98 on it.

    Unhappy compatability mode

    I changed the compatibility of the file, but the installation was interrupted angain.
    Any other suggestions?

    Mustek has instructions for doing this, you only change one thing to allow the setup to run properly. If you backup your registry before you make the change, it will be OK. Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully. I did this with a 98 scanner that would install under xp if you changed the xp product name to windows 2000 - after the install you change it back and the scanner is fine. They prefer to do this instead of changing the install file... go figure!
