    Anti-Spyware software needed

    Hi

I just purchased a new laptop and I need to find out what Anti-Spyware scanning software to use on it. I am hoping to find something that will be free. I have purchased a laptop with Vista Business on it (Yes I know I should put on XP). But I need it running Vista for school in September.

Right now I am running Norton Anti-Virus, came with the laptop and running the 3 month trial. Again I know I should run something else but it has been working well and hasn't slowed down the system to much. I do know that you cannot rely on one type of antivirus product. I haven't run an MS platfor in quite awhile. I still us my Mac as my main system so I have not used a Windows based spyware scanner in years.

    Thanks for the help

    Barnzie

    Welcome to Windrivers!
There are a few free anti-spyware solutions out there, and everyone has a favorite. I use Spyware Blaster beacuse it is free, it works, and I personally know the author of the software. Spybot, AdAware and Windows Defender are also available.

    SuperAntiSpyware is also widely recommended.

I've been using MalwareBytes. It's helped me out a bunch of times while on-site.

I've always used both SpyBot S&D and Adaware by Lavasoft.

    download.com has them both.
