MSI Build for wife

I am building a fast pc for my wife and I plan on using a MSI K9N2G Neo –FD 2 AM2+/AM2 motherboard with a Phenom 9850 2.5 ghz AMD2+ 125 watt quad core processor powered by an Antec Neo Power 550 550w ATX 15 volt power supply and CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) duel channel memory kit with windows vista 64 bit operating system. I would like to know if anyone foresees and problems with this chip set MB CPU combination. Also I would like to know if I would gain any video or performance advantage if I purchase a MSI MSI R4670-2D512 Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card. I am getting a ViewSonic VX2233 wm monitor 21” monitor to go with this system. most of the reviews of the onboard graphics state that it is pretty good. Finally if I purchast the card what is the best safest way to install the operating system with the video card? Should I use the onboard video first to install the operating system?
Then add the card and drivers? Thanks for you replies… Don

Why have you decided to go AM2 ?

And no, put the real video card in and set the bios to boot from the real video card first.

NooNoo I am an AMD fan we need AMD. We need cooptation in the processor market. I have had good luck with AMD.

I have all the parts picked out and in a wish list just waiting to see if any one has has had any problems with the MSI motherboard. I have had good luck with MSI also. Going with a Coolermaster case with 2 fans and a side vent w/ an Anteck 550 watt 2 rail powesupply and a sony DVD. I think I will go with Easy DVD. Nero trail comes with DVD but I think it a monster......Don

So what is your wife going to use it for? I tend to go with nvidia graphics for gamers and ATI for movie making and photo manipulation.

She likes to make collage with pictures and stores lots of recipes. Going with a 500GB Seagate HD to start. We don’t edit any video or do anything real demanding on our PC’s…Don

OMGmissingling I looked at the GA-MA78G-DS3H MB. I just thought the MSI board might be a little more stable. Same price as MSI board. Supplier suggested this memory for it, G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory. This combo would save me a few bucks! Never used a Gigagite MB...Don

I think I'd most likely use the Gigabyte as well. Since you're using ATI video, it would be nice to have a board that supports Hybrid Crossfire, just in case you might want it, and the Gigabyte uses solid capacitors, which is a good improvement in reliability of the water-based electrolyte caps on the MSI.
