Question Can I port an Excel database to Works wdb?

I was sent an Excel file today with 42 entries on one sheet with ten fields. I only have Works and short of pasting the lot in(would that work?) or typing it in is there any way I could port the file to Works in one go? I cannot save the file to Works as there is no save or save as.

I have already tried opening the file up in Works but get the corrupted file or wrong application message.

I want to play around with it, re sort fields that sort of thing but because I only have Excel Viewer I cannot do this but I could if it was Works wdb. Only if I can do this can I use the file for the personal research it was sent to me for. As the file came from my local Council I know they won't have Works so haven't asked ands the sender put themselves out to compile it for me from a bigger database.

I think my edition of Works is version 8 but anyway it was bundled with a computer running XP Pro I bought in early 2005.

You can save as .csv and then import it to works if you can save as.... if not [url.=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/253405]read this[/url]

Cut and paste should also work. Ctrl A to highlight all, right click copy, open works and paste.

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
