The BIOS is already at the revision available from the Acer link:

An email asking if this BIOS should definitely support 4GB RAM could still be worthwhile (all the board specifications, Acer & Foxconn, seem to say upgradeable to 4GB).

IF the Bios has an entry for 'Halt On' states I think changing it to 'No Errors' will get rid of that message.

    Worth trying.

    'Description
This BIOS update addresses DDR2 533 memory dual channel support and system halt using Single Core CPU issues'

    How nice.

The poster, however, has a dual core cpu.

'2.00 gigahertz Amd Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core'

I simply wanted to see if the comp would boot straight to OS without the message.

Re-flashing can destroy the comp if done wrong.

    Have some patience.

BTW: I note that the poster has seemingly abandoned this thread - sad - perhaps too many chefs (I include myself) BUT, if the kitchen didn't have them, Noo Noo would have to do ALL the cooking.

    clauded suggested wayyyyyy back:

'i would think you have one bad 1gig stick, use 1 stick at a time and you should get one that won`t boot replace this one and all should be good,as far as speed go you won`t see that much difference between 3 gigs and 4 gigs, luck '

Never happened that I can tell. Either that or Memtest 7 passes is standard.

The message that poster was getting is similar to an Asus board going to 'crash free' Bios settings, and I know from experience a bad stick of ram can cause that.

Those are the things that should be done first.

    Bios Flash LAST!

'The poster posted that the 1gb sticks all work fine installed alone.'

    Never happened.

In fact, the swapping in-and-out of sticks was so haphazard that nonone reading could tell which sticks actually got tested.

The one-at-a-time method would have gone a long way to prove either ALL were good or perhaps 1 was bad or none were bad and the slot was perhaps grimy or defective.

Memtest is not an infallible tool, but it is useful.

If you adament that you are going to reflash, perhaps you should run this first and report your findings:

    http://biosagentplus.com/?ref=29&PHP...01ltstrhdtmha3

It direct-links from the Phoenix site:

Congratulations OMG you just earned a 2 month ban for insulting another member. Obviously you forgot you were still on probation from your previous ban. Oh yes, and to save you emailing everyone, we all know that you are going to sue me and get windrivers banned from the internet... or was that the other way round?

Daffy! Once again you ONLY appear when OMG has been banned again. Are you going to get your account unbanned at TSF or just use a clone account like you do here?

It's a shame to see such antics going on. I don't want to sound condescending but isn't this a little childish? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes the tech threads to keep to business.

I agree completely Niclo, I hope the infantile behavior ceases and the forums are simply used for tech support and pleasant community interaction.

I tried each stick alone. They all work. Biosagent says Bios is bad, needs download.
