You checked out overclockers? They are ususally the first...
I think the issue is, do you want a phenom II now?

Well I'm happy qith the 9950 so I don't really need the Phnom II right now.
The problem I have is deciding to kep my old motherboard or going for a new one the GA-MA790GP-DS4H
What do you think?

I think if you want to have a board capable of AM3, then go for one of these If not, keep your old board.

Would you say there are alot of advantages going for an AM3 board now?

From a strictly financial point of view, having an AM3 board now would mean you only have to change the processor later. From a bleeding edge point of view, you may want to see what transpires with the new boards first before committing. It wouldn't be the first time that a new board comes out that turns out to be missing something obvious!

The AM3 boards from gigabyte look pretty solid and seem to have wverything what I need and like you said they are more future proof.
I think I'll just get a AM3 board and now that I'm getting the 9950 I weon't be upgrading the processor for a while anyway.

The other thing I wanted to make sure id if I use crossfire on the board do both of the video cards have to be identical? ie if I have a 4870 it will have to be 2 of these does the brand of the cards mater if one is diffeent to ther other?

Brands don't matter, but GPU types do to a certain extent.... it can cope with some inequalities, but not all... did you read the faq through?
