Most of these are designed to be replace by the consumer. There is usually a retaining clip or screw to be removed and then slide the unit out.. with the computer OFF and the battery and the power cables both removed!!
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I would suggest you use the Toshiba site contact (not phone) and describe your wish to obtain a replacement dvd drive. See if thwey even have any.
If not, places like this are avaiable (this is WAY cheap compared to US sites - priced where it should be);

here is a list of Toshiba stockists A few have 800 numbers, worth giving them a call.

I order from another country (USA) all the time never had a problem - of course, I ALWAYS use Paypal. I even ordered from the nefarious UK once.
Anyway, it was an example; If you do the right EBay search, lots of hits;

I am just painfully aware of how many people order from abroad and it never appears... Paypal protection is a must in these instances.

Your right I prefere to get one from here instead of ordening from Hong Kong. I realise there probably made there and shipped here, that part I don't mind as long as I'm dealing with some one here.

That is why it's a good idea to talk to Toshiba, they will tell you exactly what you need... and give you the right part number.
