Explorer.exe Issue
I've got a users PC when you boot up, i can log in as myself, admin, and other users, but when I log in as that user, no icons appears. When I look at Task Manager, I go to File - Run, explorer.exe and now everything comes up just fine. I had to clear the System log because it was currupt. Since it's only affecting this users account, does anyone have any suggestions what I should try.
Windows XP Pro.
Thanks!
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

This may NOT apply, but check that when you Right click the desktop and select 'Arrange Icons By' the 'Show Desktop Icons' has a check mark.

Run a virus and malware scan. Check that users startup folder. I would also suggest you run Hijackthis.

I had this issue once before and I ultimately had to do a repair install.
First I would run a virus scan and a syware/malware scan.
If nothing comes up, then you might try logging in as the admin and using the system restore feature.
If that doesn't work I would try the repair install. Good luck!

Everyone has given the right advice and I just wanted to add a note. I encountered your situation today with a client. It was easily remedied with combofix but most likely you can succeed with the programs that everyone else has suggested to you. This seems to be a hijacker that wasn't compiled correctly. Hence the lack of a pop-up telling you to buy their software or you'll be doomed to spyware etc etc.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.
