Site Unusable in Opera. Hit and Miss with Firefox
Hi,
Something has changed at Windrivers and not for the better.
The site is now almost completely unusable in Opera. It still works, although somewhat unreliably, in Firefox. I have tested this on a number of different PCs in different locations with different ISPs.
Interestingly, there are no issues with IE 7 or 8.
I suspect that the problem is with ds.serving-sys.com and whatever it is doing in the backend.
A quick Google search shows that the problem is not unique to Windrivers:
http://groups.google.ca/groups?hl=en...-8&sa=N&tab=wg
So... just a heads up in case you were not already aware of the problem.

Curious to know what issues you are having cause i don't use IE at all, and maybe I am half asleep but i haven't noticed any issues?

More often than not, pages on the forum site don't load fully in Opera. This happens when loading forums.windrivers.com and when clicking through on links.
The task bar lists where data is being loaded from. It gets to "Transferring data from: ds.serving-sys.com" and stalls there for a few seconds, the message disappears, and then the loading of the page stops completely. The refresh button never appears.
If I click the stop button and then click refresh, the process will start again. Sometimes it will proceed to a point that the page is functional after clicking the stop button but most of the time not.
I am working in Firefox at the moment and am having no problems although I have had similar problems to that with Opera before. The problems with Firefox are much more sporadic and much less severe, though.
The issue happens with Opera on every PC I have tried. The only common feature besides Opera is the OS, XP.
Interesting.
I will post some screen shots later when I have time.

Interesting! I haven't used Opera in a while, but even on my XP machines I'm not currently experiencing problems with the site in Firefox 3.5 Beta4, or 3.10. I've had some errors loading the site with previous Firefox Betas, but right now, it works fine.

I haven't used Opera for many years, but the site is working fine for me in both Firefox and IE8.

I'm posting with the latest version of Opera right now. What exactly is the problem?

The pages never finish loading.
If I click on a link in the partially loaded page nothing happens until I click the stop button.
Then the page that is linked to never finishes loading. Sometime by repeatedly clicking the stop button and then refresh it will load mostly.
I have the problem nowhere, except at Windrivers.
The problem seem not to be with the current version of Opera, but rather with systems where the current version of Opera has been created with a series of updates. If I do a clean reload of Opera 6.4 the problem goes away.
Curious.

Hmmm.... well scratch that theory. If I do a clean reload of Opera, the situation will improve, but the problem is not gone.
The other common denominator, besides XP, is that all systems that I have tested this on have some flavor of Trend Micro AV on them.
I will try on a system without Trend.

Tres droll.
I have Aranche working on my DOS 6.22 box, but I can't see an Opera client for DOS.
Do you have the download link?

9.64 works with Windows 95 and Avast.
9.64 doesn't work with W2K, Sophos, and Comodo.

Hmmm using opera right now on a Win2k machine and able to post.... if not sophos maybe comodo causing problems or perhaps corruption of the software?
On further thought firewalls I've noticed installed on win2k are a lot more restrictive even on permitted software on win2k as opposed to xp and vista. I generally have to turn mine off on my win2k in order to view some pages and even use permitted programs such as ventrillo.

OK. Weird.
It is working again with Opera. No changes have been made on my system.
Most strange.

Perhaps updates to sophos or comodo or even opera have been automatically installed which sorted out the problem?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
