Wireless USB Adapter
Background Info;
Dell Vostro, 2GB Ram, XP Pro.
The system has a standard ethernet card built on mobo. Works fine. Client wants PC in another room on wireless. Installed Belkin wireless usb. Utility shows SSID, device manager shows Belkin wireless, network connections shows wireless. The problem is, I have set the wireless router for mac filter. When I go to DOS prompt and do an ipconfig /all, the ethernet card shows up with mac address, the wireless does not show up at all. Thinking there is a problem with the Belkin I bought a new Dlink and installed only to discover it does the same thing. What gives, anyone have any ideas as to why the wireless won't resolve and show IP and Mac?
TIA

So it didn't take when you ran the Control Panel wireless network setup wizard?

Wireless switch off? Or wireless connection disabled? That would cause the interface not to show in ipconfig.

I used the software with both adapters. Both adapters showed in control panel>network connections>wireless network not connected, device manager> Network adapters> device is working properly.

Try a winsock reset - Click start, Run, copy & paste the following command:
netsh winsock reset
Or even a winsock repair; http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm
You have entered the Mac for the computer into the router (since you used Mac filtering)? The router is broadcasting?

Allready have done reset and repair before posting. I am somewhat at a loss when the device shows everywhere else except for DOS under Ipconfig cmd. Maybe the next thing is a SFC , repair install, or maybe even a wipe and reinstall.
