I believe either the SA6 or SH6 (can't recall which) by Abit is a modern Intel 815E based solution in Slot1. Pretty much THE only 815E Slot1 solution. And you will be able to find SLot 1 Coppermines later at least up thru 1 GHz to install in it.

    Thumbs up

I have put together many PIII Systems and agree that the Asus P3B-F is a very reliable Main Board.

Just the SH6, the SA6 is a socket 370 board.

    Abit SH6...

    again...

    Abit SH6...

i have used both the SH6 (slot one, i815 chipset) and the SE6(socket 370, i815 chipset) and am incredibly pleased with the reliability and stavility with mine. If you arent worried about upgradedabilty , however the Abit BE6-II or BF6 (based on the BX chipset) may not be bad choices for you.

Seems like everyone's right on. I've been using Asus mb's for years. Lately, P3BF's and P3V4X's. No problems, no matter what OS.

I disagree actually. I have seen a lot of returns with Asus boards here in the UK. And like the old saying goes 'Once bitten, twice shy'.

Not to walk into a flame - but for a stable Intel CPU I use an Intel Brand motherboard, I have always had good luck with them, reliability is more important to me than a few % speed increase.

And I've seen quite a few that wouldn't run some USB devices without a self-powered external USB hub...I sell only ABIT unless I have a special need that ABIT doesn't support.

    Wink

DFI is my first choice, Have built hundreds of PC's and Servers using these boads I like the AK74E check it out athttp://www.dfi.com/frame.asp . ASUS is okay but havent used any for a while as my main supplier sells DFI. I also have had ZERO RMA's on these boards.
ASUS has new board which supports VIA266 and DDR Memory may have to buy some of those to play with.
