The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running
Trying to install a program from a DVD iso image mounted on Daemon tools but keep getting this error:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I have Windows 7 x64 and I know for a fact the software runs on it (others are using it). I have tried "run as admin" and compatibility mode.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Microsoft saays specifically:
"•When a 16-bit installer or application is launched, the following error message is displayed:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
per: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb756962.aspx
The key words being 'When a 16-bit installer ....... is launched'
See if there is a 32/64 bit installer available.

Also what exactly is it. If its an ISO someone "made" its possible they pooched it making the iso.
I have seen this error a number of times.
Also i have seen it associated with a viral infection

Its a game, published this year so very much doubt it is a 16 bit installer - others have it working so it can't be the iso either.
Could be a problem with 7 or Daemon tools?

since its a game that was made this year and its an ISO and not the dvd, then i can safely assume its a download.
In that case it may be a lot of things.
Things like in your system you may have a different antivirus.
Your download of the ISO is corrupt.
Simplest way is to get the original manufacturer's disk and load it on a clean windows 7 load to find out.
And for the record i have seen a number of significant issues with Daemon tools.

Generally for the new games that came out this year you either buy the game disk or get a direct to drive download of an executable installer. My question is, is this a legitimate and legal copy of the game? If so can you provide the link to the provider so I can take a look at it and test this ISO myself and why was the ISO route more favorable than the direct to drive route?
By the way, if you bought the disk and made the iso then maybe you're encountering some more stringent copy protection.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

Ok, I presume it's that then, will try the iso with a different emulator - if it fails again it is a bad download.
Yes, the game was downloaded, it is very difficult to get originals where I live (though that is no excuse I know).
