running vista. IE8. adobe flash player does not work in ie8. It works in firefox and chrome. I have uninstalled and installed flash player. Updated Java. Set security to medium. Enabled add-ons for flash player. Updated ie8 to ie9 and back to ie8. Shut off anti virus. Shut off firewall. Rebooted countless times. what is next please.

Reset your IE. Choose reset to defaults and restore advanced settings if you haven't yet.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

Have you looked for managed add-ons in IE? Also might want to uninstall Adobe Macromedia Flash Player, Adobe AIR, Shockwave Player, and all of their garbage from add remove programs. Then make sure the Add-On's are all gone in IE. Reboot and try to reinstall. Java has nothing to do with Adobe they are separate companies so you shouldn't need to mess with that. What versions of the Adobe products are installed? We can look for manual removal instructions as well as tools for unistall if we know that information.

I removed flash player, adobe air, and shockwave player from add and remove programs. I looked in manage-add ons after uninstall and they were not there.I rebooted and then installed Adobe flash player and shockwave player. Flash player does not show up in manage add-ons but shockwave does. They both show up in add and remove programs after installation. I install the latest of both.

I found this solution and flash player works. Simple
If your problem is IE8 here is the fix... The key is using the executable installer for Flash rather than the ActiveX version.
1.Uninstall Flash using - http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe
2.Download SubInACL from Microsoft from - http://www.microsoft.com/...
3.Install SubInACL.
4.Download the reset_fp10.zip file from - http://www.adobe.com/support/flashpl...reset_fp10.zip
5.Extract the reset_fp10.cmd file to C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\.
6.Double-click reset_fp10.cmd.
7.When it is finished you will see "Press any key to continue".
8. Download the executable installer for Flash Player from http://www.adobe.com/...
9. Install and enjoy.
