    Problem with TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA device

    I have a TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA device in a toshiba satellite A135 s7 403. The system is Vista Home basic.
    My problem is that my dvd drive won't read dvds. It only works when I use my ''recovery and applications/drivers cd''. Otherwise, when I double-click the icon, the drive ejects the tray and shows the message: ''please insert dvd''.
    I'm a bit of a noob so if someone could explain it to me, if there's actually a way to fix it. Please!!!

    It didn't help! The service was unavailable. And I already tried to remove the upper and lower filters. Nothing!!

    The first thing to do in trying to troubleshoot the drive is simply take Windows out of the equation. You need a bootable DVD such as a Win7 or Vista installation disk, etc. then see if you can get the machine to boot from the DVD. If you have ignition, the drive is OK and you have a Windows problem. There are some bits of malware that will cause problems like yours, and some of them leave the problems behind even when the bug is removed. Still, first things first, try starting from a bootable DVD; and if it won't boot, that's a bad drive.

    OK, with the bootable cd it worked. As I said it is the only one that drive will read.

    You need to be clear about whether the disc you are booting from is a CD or DVD. CD/DVD drives use separate laser systems to read the discs. So just because a drive will read a CD doesn't mean it will read a DVD. That's also true about burning disks. If you actually verify that the computer can boot from a DVD, then you can assume your system has an active malware infection, since it seems you can't access the MS FixIt tool.

    Just in case I'm wrong, you can download the Autoplay Repair Tool and run it. You will definitely need to run at least two passes of the tool, and you should reboot, not just log off after each pass. When the tool no longer finds errors, your drive should be working OK. If it keeps reporting the same errors, or new errors on every pass, then we are off to Malware Removal Land.

    Ok, i downloaded it, but when I used it on the drive the program stopped working, I tried reinstalling it but nothing changed. Oh, and it was a bootable DVD, not CD.

    OK, then, we can safely assume that your computer is infected with malware. You might want to start by downloading Malwarebytes Antimalware and running a Quick Scan, then let us know what the results are.

    I made this post before i noticed your reply with the file report. So here's my warning now. I noticed you're in posession of a keygen, I would suggest buying legitimate software if you want to avoid problems with your computer. Warez/torrents are great ways to get infected and trash your computer. Saving 10-100 dollars isn't too worth while when you have to take your pc into the shop for a virus removal that will cost 50, or 100, or more depending on where you go. If you're hell bent on having free utilities try looking for opensource versions and try www.download.com for tools as well. Warez/torrents are stealing and not to mention bad for your PC.

    There is a slight possibility that maybe this could help. If it does it came from this link

    Create a text file with NOTEPAD containing the following data exactly as below and name it FIXCD.REG
    You should have 3 boxes on the bottom in NOTEPAD.
    1)Filename : fixcd.reg
    2)Save as type: all files
    3)Encoding: ANSI
    If you do not change it from txt type to All files type, then the file will actually be fixcd.reg.txt, this won't accomplish the desired result

    Double click on the file and say yes to the merge into registry question.

    ----------------------- Use text after this line, contents of FIXCD.REG -----------------------------
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
    "UpperFilters"=-
    "LowerFilters"=-

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdr4_2K]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdralw2k]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdudf]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\UdfReadr]
    ------------------------------ Use text before this line -------------------------------- __________________
