Rebooting Problem

No I haven't changed the jumpers. I changed memory modules, hard drive, power supply, floppy drive, I put new IDE cables on, a new sata cable on for the hard drive when it started acting up. It seems to work better now that I unhooked the USB external hard drive. I do my backups on Monday mornings so I will just hook it up for that. That is the only problem with this computer is the reboot sometimes. My other desktop which I built a couple of years before I built this one runs perfect still, that is what bugs me the most.

Could it be a heat issue causing the reboots? Check the heatsink/fan for dust and ensure that it isn't getting scorching hot after say 25 minutes of run time. Also, check the outside fan port of the power supply to see if it has a load of dust in it. If so, turn computer off and use some canned air to clean it out, but do so outside or you will be sneezing for weeks.

I have done all those things. Normally if you have an overheating problem the computer will be shutting off anyhow. As I said the unhooking of the external hard drive seems to be doing the trick so far.

I've had an issue with a n external WD drive randomly locking up the machine at boot. Fixed by messing with the BIOS to disallow USB boot devices (the boot order didn't make a difference).

I've run into a couple of models of mainboards (such as the Asus M2V-MX) that will absolutely hang at random intervals if you have a USB hard drive or pen drive connected, unless you disable USB device booting.
