Boot Issue On Two Laptops
These came in at different times.
One is a Toshiba NB205. It boots the Toshiba screen up then goes nowhere. You can hit F12 and it will show "entering boot device selection" but goes nowhere. Also you can hit F2 and it will show "entering setup" but goes nowhere. I have tried pulling the hard drive, battery, known good memory, different hard drive and no go. On this one she said she installed Norton and upon reboot it stopped right there and thats it.
Also I have a HP DV5 that came in last week that is doing the same thing. This one has the cmos bat right there so I pulled it and still nothing.
Motherboard???

Can you get into the BIOS? It might be set wrong there.

Sorry, I just zoned out on the F2 comment... That is a puzzler.

Yes it is and the only thing I can think of is it's a bad bios chip or something. I even reset the bios with the jumper under the memory and that did nothing.

If you try booting with no ram in it, do you get a beep code?

The conclusion I would draw is that you've simply got two machines with bad MOBOs.
