usb lose connection
I sold this client and ASUS AMD870 chipset based motherboard with USB 3.
Now....He has this external 1TB samsung hard drive and an old kyocera 1200D printer that sometimes is not recognize even if he turn the computer off and then back on. only plugging them out of the usb and then back in brings them to life.....
I'm afraid it has to do something with he fairly new usb 3 chipset but not sure.
This computer also has a non powered usb hub connected to one of its rear usb.
How would you suggest to test to check the cause of the problem ?

The first thing I'd try is checking the power saving settings for the USB 3 controller and disabling power saving for the device. I'd have to suspect a buggy driver for the USB 3 chipset is the problem, but I don't know if there is a foolproof way to check that. You might try enabling the Performance Monitor and see what it reports. You might also see if you experience the same kind of behavior with a 3rd device such as a pendrive or whatever.

Hi Slg.
Thanks for your suggestions. I've been there today and what I did is :
1. Updated usb3 drivers
2. Flashed the motherboard bios
3. Replaced the USB2 Hub the guy had to another hub
I will be in contact with the guy in the next few days to see if it has solved the problem.
I didn't touched the power management settings, but that will be the next thing I will do if it fails. The reason I didn't did it is because some of his USB devices does work after not touching the computer for a long time and even when I came the external 1GB drive was working while connected to the front usb.....
