Need help with skyrim for xbox 360 ?

I need help with skyrim for xbox 360. I am on the part where I have just gotten the golden claw from that bandit. I need help on the map. It shows a black box in the specific area that I am in. I want to look at the WORLD map and take off the black box. How do I temporarily take off the black box and look at the world map ? I have tried almost all the buttons. Please help.
