The information is stored in Cookies. There are many apps liks CCleaner that remove cookies... Even clearing history from within IE will zap cookies.

I would do a checkdisk on the harddrive.
See if it throws up any errors.
Does IE save websites in favorites like its supposed to?

Yes it does save favorites..now refreash my momery..is it start run chdsk?
I remembered..CHKDSK....well I did it three times...I would alway get a warning "F parameter not specified running chkdsk in read only mode..then it would go thru to stage 1 of 3 with no errors or deletes..then go to stage 2 of 3 index files and each time it would delete some .dll files.. I never saw it go to stage 3 of 3..but maybe it did but real fast...

Click Start > Run, type in cmd and press [Enter]. At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r, press [Enter], answer Y(es) to the question, close the cmd prompt window and then reboot.

If you log into a site - close the browser and then go back to the site - what happens? Are you still logged in?

IE Tools->Options->Security tab->make sure it isn't set to High.
Can also try adding the sites to the Trusted Sites list.

Try THIS and se if this will help you.
