Unknown USB on winxp
Hi
I have a client with 2 computers who I've connected both to a lcd, normal keyboard and mouse with a cheap KVM about a year ago, and up until now it worked great.
Today the client called to tell me that her mouse and keyboard does not work. I came to her site, Disconnected the KVM completely, Reconnected it, And it worked.
The thing is that one of the computers connected to the KVM shows "Unknown USB device" like in this picture :

I thought it might be a faulty usb or kvm, So I connected the kvm to another usb port on the back of the computer and also tried a different brand KVM which i personally use and it still showed that "Unknown USB device" error, Although both KVM worked.
I went and brought USB PCI cards, Since I thought it might be chipset drivers issues (The board has intel 945 chipset if I remember correctly).
The kvm did not worked at all with 3 different PCI usb cards I've tried (Even tried via USB 3 PCI ex card).
I thought about replacing the motherboard, But I would like to hear some suggestions before I do it from you.Maybe there's another less extreme solution.
Thank you

Since the KVM works - can't say I'd replace the mobo...or do to much else for that matter...but that's just me
Wouldn't hurt to reinstall the USB drivers for the mobo...

Hi Steve
I came this morning and did not see the USB error. What I did is updated the intel .inf files (they were from 2006, So the ones i updated from intel site were from 2009), And hopefully it will continue to work that way.
Thank you for your input
