Window 8 Alternate Driver for HP Deskjet 6122

I upgraded to windows 8 and HP says my deskjet 6122 is not compatible with windows 8 and there is no drivers available, to get a new printer. I installed the alternate driver for the deskjet 990c and it works fine. HP says to use the deskjet 990c driver for windows 7. So I thought I would give the Windows 8 driver for the 990c a try for the deskjet 6122 in windows 8 and printer works. Might also work with other printers they say is not compatible with windows 8 that had a windows 7 driver.

Welcome to Windrivers rippin686 and thanks for the tip

HP have always had a basic driver that works across arrange of inkjets - at least enough to get them printing and those drivers are usually included in the Windows disk (although I haven't checked through the Windows 8 disk). I remember the 550C driver worked for a ton of printers that had weird issues. It's nice to know that they are still doing it.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
