32 or 64 bit windows 7
I am repairing a friends lap top and I will need back up software. His drive finally quit But I did not find out soon enough. In xp 4 gigs of ram I read would not see all 4 gigs with 32 bit but will with 64 bit
I am using 7 Is it also if not 64 bit 32 will not see 4 gigs ram? Processor is AMD Phenom X2 dual core P860 tricore.
I found out by Google 32 bit 7 only see`s 3 gig. So what I need is 64 bit

The extra memory that Win7 64 bit can address makes a significant speed improvement with memory intensive applications. Driver support is every bit as good as 32 bit. 8 GB of RAM is really cheap, and that seems to be the sweet spot still for Win7 64.

I think what he is getting at is the fact that all 32 bit systems are limited to 3.2 gigs of ram.
Now not all windows 7 systems are the same in 64 bit for the amount of ram that they will support.
Just have to research what versions support how much.
Everything slgrieb said exactly correct.

Opt for the 64bit ..... it is more robust than 32bit and is 32bit compatable.

Welcome to WinDrivers, vyper50! Always nice to see a new face, so to speak. I doubt you'll get any argument about 64 bit Windows being the OS of choice, but I think that most software is still playing catch up when it comes to using multicore CPUs as well as 64 bit operating systems.
