The PC market is also deteriorating. Shipments declined 13% YoY in Q1, the largest drop in ~20 years.

Kind of makes you wonder what has changed, or what is different from before to cause this.

I think it's because there isn't enough effort put in to allow modern trends promote the site. We've suggested things like a FB "like" to threads that are helpful to people so others can see where help was found but nothing really came of it. Other sites have various other things going for them that make them more lucrative as well. I have slowly lost interest in this site, which is sad because there are many here that I enjoy talking to and respect that I won't be interacting with much anymore plus this was my first and favorite place to collaborate with other techs. If any of you want to keep in touch more efficiently than this site just use one of the messengers links I left available. I do answer them.

    and clean up after itself.

Yep, all my contact info is current, so it's not like I'm in the Batcave. But no, we don't get promoted much. And as I've said before I think support forums are a dying breed. The same questions are asked over and over and over, and they are mostly answered by greenhorns and the uninformed, or mods who have a policy to push, or who post the same responses they did a decade ago. Real working communities are pretty much a done deal.

To a certain degree I believe you are right, but, I also believe we have to change on certain things as well. I find myself becoming more involved with solving problems related to tablets and smart phones in addition to the normal virus and hardware fixes.
