    Computer Forensics

Hello everybody I have a chance to learn this. What does it play in the scope of computer operation?
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place
    I was before.

Depends on how far you go down the rabbits hole with it. Examples of things you can do depending on what you are taught are: Tracking activities of a user from as simple as what web pages they accessed and when to as in depth as identifying the hardware they connected to a pc, when, for how long, and possibly what activities were done with that hardware, you can also learn tricks to pull information from the RAM, data recovery, and more. You can also learn program forensics and then fall into the category of using it for troubleshooting of applications or even viral removal/forensics.

If you're looking for a career application, the latter can be used for application support roles, and/or analysis for AV firms. The prior listings would fall under the category for law such as for police, the feds, law firms, private corporations, and so on.

I use some of the skills I acquired for basic support of customers such as pictures recovery, viral analysis, and in the rare instance if there was an ugly termination at a company and they want to recover what the angry employee damaged or did before leaving. It makes decent money with the termination one but is a not so common activity to be hired for.

I have been kicking it around, I googled it and Alot of hits came up. I am full time working in Refrigeration But there are times were slow
and I thought it would be a great fill in. Around here is a lot of farm land, City is growing and a lot of computers and laptops around.

I need more info on operating systems. example My secretary has a acer laptop She let her mother use it and when she got it back ( it has been awhile) but some media program was running in back ground it was vista operating system what ever you did it went to media ( center??) I think that was the name anyways I tried to put combo fix on it changed to short cut for Media What ever I did, So I wiped drive ordered recovery media from acer All was good except She lost pictures, She had a device so she could get on internet through phone company, She had to upgrade, no program. one example of What I probably could have prevented if I had more knowledge to fix problem. What is the best approach to obtain?

Experience and the knowledge that comes with it really. Learning about diagnostic tools and how to use them would be a start, also learning more about how to remove programs and infections by hand helps too. There are plenty of guides out there on how to remove a lesser infection by hand that you can utilize the next time you see a nasty. It's all situational though. If you're wanting to take courses you'll learn the basic foundations of this stuff, and only in your advanced specialist classes will you learn the special tricks for each situation you find. I'll send you my e-mail address and I'll give you a list of utilities that I keep on hand and tell you how they work for you to start with. Unless of course you'd rather take the classes which I have nothing against but the tools would be putting the cart before the horse and could frustrate you with the classes due to their pace.
