    Cd rom hookup

OK here it goes best way to describe. I have a few cd rom laptop drives. I wanted to (case scenario) You approach the computer your trying to wipe and reload. The cd rom must not be working no boot from cd. Since it is reload I suspect usb will not work. I was thinking opening up desk top and hooking my handy laptop drive to power and data cable and load windows all drives are mini sata except one which it has plug like video for laptop. Any thoughts on this Idea?

Well I am having just a bit of difficulty understanding exactly what you are talking about.
Sounds like your trying to reload a system, which means it doesnt matter if it has usb
installed or not cause it likely can boot to usb. You can likely purchase an adapter usb to ide.

I have a few laptop DVD/CDROM drives. on those drives that you slide in to connections on laptop than hold it with a screw. Those drives are what I am talking about. On the part you connect to has a mini connection for sata and power but they are smaller so you cannot connect with cables on desk top.
