Backup EDB or Exchange Server Files via Windows Backup Tool
Exchange Server provides the platform for Outlook. The Exchange Server Database Files (EDB) works in coordination of PST for proper functioning of Outlook. Thus it is necessary to backup Exchange Server as it contains the user mailboxes. The best method for Exchange Server backup is using Windows Server Backup Tool.
- Just open the tool and login to exchange server
- Select the database to backup, right click on it and select option 'Backup Once'
- The new window that opens select the Custom options
- Now select the drive to backup data and add items
- Go to Advanced Settings box, click on the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) backup
- Select the option VSS full backup
- Specify the location to backup and then select folder
- Now click on backup once and the process will start
- You can now then check .bak file once the backup gets complete
The Window Server Backup Tool is the best way apart from NTBackup method to create Exchange Server Backup files.
