[RESOLVED] Presario CDS 524 Bios

I work at a computer store as one of the technicians...i recently ran across a Compaq Presario CDS 524 (monitor & PC in one case) and the HDD failed on it...i'm puttin' a 30 Gb (customer's request) in it and as i know some of u know, compaq bios is on the HDD, not the motherboard...SO, my question is, how can i get the bios on this machine so i can install the 30 Gb and get this POS out of my way!? A download site...a user w/the same model...anyone!! oh, btw, the Compaq site didn't seem to help at all!

Yeah, you're right...Compaq's website says there are no downloads for your model.

I found the drivers for 524...not for a 524 CDS. I'm not sure what the differences are. Anyway, go here:

hi i was just browsing yahoo for the specs of the compaq presereoi cds 524 and saw that u need a bios i have a working hard drive and it has the bios on it its the original one so im going to make the flopys for the bios using the creat diagnostics disk and ill emali it to u after i make certent it works k

i just found out that the largest hdd it suports is an 8.4 gig hdd
im triying to figeyer a way to do a 20 gig

I doubt the original poster needs this info any longer.

For your 8.4 GB drive limitation issue, you will need drive overlay software. Most hard drive manufacturers offer drive overlay software for their drives at no cost. Go to the website of the drive manufacturer, then downloads.
