Spamers.......the dirty rotten scoundrells.
Hi All,
How many of you out there look after your corprate email? How many of you get your server used to relay spam email?
Am I the only stupid one???
I have recently found out that our server is being used this way....Have just been threw and eradicated 16,000 emails off our server all waiting to be sent.
I am in the throws of plugging up the hole.....even though it don't make much sense to me at the moment, but I will give it a go..
Sorry all I just wanted to have a bitch about it.....gees it really gets to me these person(s) who do this stuff.
Anyway. check your servers incase it is happening to you...you WILL be black listed for it.even thought you are not doing it.
Cheers
Yoshie.

Yeah, this happened to my office server, too. We got black listed by www.ORBS.org , which ironically, is affiliated with and hosted by OUR email relaying service! I found out about it when another user complained they could not send email to one particular individual. The rejection email gave me the clues I needed. If any rejection message you get has any mention of "ORBS" in it, go to www.orbs.org immediately for information and instructions on how to get off the black list. All you have to do is shut down the relaying, and resubmit your server IP to ORBS for testing to fix it all up. Fortunately, I found out about this a week before they were going to publish our offending server IP publicly. Otherwise we would have had to change our server IP and that ain't much fun. We use Novell GroupWise for email and the product installs with relaying turned on by default!

Just to follow up on this spaming thing, it's all fixed my end for now (I hope). if you have users who use laptops to access your mail server make sure you get ALL the ip's that your ISP uses and then run "winipcfg" to check.....our ISP gave me 2 ranges checked them with ipcfg and got totally different ones....go figure (they also said that their systems admin adds and removes ranges at will)
I hope this helps others out there, and be sure to check your system out compleetly.
Cheers
Yoshie.
