CPRM technology into the ATA standard
What does every one think about this push to place copy right protection into the ATA standard?
If you think it is a bad thing, like I do, then go here and sign a petition against it.

Thanks for the use of a soap box.

Personally I think the ATA specification will be dead for a few years. They WILL implement it eventually, 1st on the flash, memory sticks, sansdisc, then start to move it to our HD's and CD-RW's eventually making all SW and GHW conform to the new standard, If they bury the real intent under technical specifications the general public and media will forget about the issue. I personally do not like the idea of a personal policeman on my comp. Yes, I know there are ways around it. But the concept of "if you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to be afraid of..." smacks too much to me invasion of privacy. IF you aren't doing anything wrong, why not let the cops/govt randomly search your person, home, vehicle, why should you be worried about your rights?
