Removing startup stuff
Using msconfig, you can stop things from starting in the startup file. Just click it off and it won't start. That's easy enough. How do you stop the item from starting permanently. I looked in sysedit but there is nothing there.

Wouldn't that stuff be in the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Run- keys in the registry?

What specifically are you trying to stop from loading?

Actually, a number of "things". For example, some MSN junk, virusscan, billminder, etc.
Got the msg on the web address problem. Thanks
Swamprat - I agree, but the problem is that under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Run - the Run part is not there. Maybe in another location???
Thanks

Other places to check: win.ini, config.sys, autoexec.bat, winstart.bat, and of course the startup folder.
Try RegRunII. Controls program startups on all flavors of Windows. You can get it here.
