Strange Internet Problems
I have a really strange internet problem at work. On my computer and laptop, I cannot go to certain web sites. I can go to most websites, but I cannot get to sites such as microsoft.com yahoo.com weather.com and others. I can go everywhere else. I use win98 on both. My boss has win98 and can go anywhere he wants. We use Novell Bordermanager version 3 for our internet access through 2 T-1's. When I try to go to them, it resolves the IP address and then says WebSite found, Waiting for Reply, but eventualy says Can not connect to server. I used to be able to go to these sites. I dont know of anything that has changed. I use IE 4.01 SP2. My TCP/IP settings are the same as his. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

suggest you try playing norton utilities4.0. you may have problems on your machine that you don't even know about. norton will sniff them out and fix them in seconds. i have fixed many customer machines with this one and then erased the program. some clients are so impressed, they buy nu4.0(or even 3.0) and keep it active on their desktop. if this doesn't work, perhaps some of your v*.386 files are corrupted. just rename the extensions and let win95 or 98 re-install them. good luck. joe yurko [email protected]

I have seen this problem only one other time and it was caused by the receive buffers set to high. Don't ask me why but on this unit when the receive buffers were set to max it would do the same thing you are describing. I set them to midrange and all was well.

You may want to have the network group check into your internet rights on the network you may be blocked from viewing certain site's and need your access right's increased.
Were I work we have had to limit internet access to some people who hang out at ESPN Stock quote site's etc.. all day.
