Post PC restarts instead of shutting down.

Just built a customer a new PC

    MIcrostar MS-6380
    512Mb DDR
    Athlon 1.3Ghz
    Ati All-In-Wonder
    Win ME

PC works fine except when you select Shut Down from within Windows the PC restarts instead.

Have fitted an AMD approved PSU and Fan, installed the latest Via 4-in-1, Latest BIOS upgrade, Re-installed ME and tried disabling power management in the BIOS all to no avail.

Anybody seen this before? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Sometimes similar problems are caused by the memory.

I had this problem recently. Replacing the power supply should take care of it. It's something to do with faulty circuits.

I also have had this problem recently, ( a few times actually ) try checking the video. Is it sharing an irq? Uninstall/reinstall the driver. I have also seen some programs in startup cause this. I know that shouldn't be the problem here but something to keep in mind for the future. Good Luck. These types of problems can be a pain to track down.

    Hi All,

I have had this problem also, i discovered the BIOS had wake on LAN enabled. I disabled and problem went away.

If your client has a network card with this capable try disabling it.

    Hope this helps

Unknown is correct I've seen acpi do that also. You also might want to remove advanced power management from the device manager.
