Internet Explorer 6 Freakin Out!!!

OK,

I have a Win2K machine with Internet Explorer 6 on it. I have it set where it will get rid of all the sites that have been visited prior upon exiting. I also have that setup with TweakUI. Obvious reasons, dont want my wife seeing exactly where I have been not that she cares though. Shes pregnant and this way I leave her alone Most of the time but thats a whole different story which is not appropriate for this board.

Anyways, sometimes when i click a link or even enter in a web address, IE6 will bring up a page that I visited days ago. It even happened when i tried to get onto this forum. I typed the windrviers address and instead, it brought up <a href="http://www.chiefsplanet.com" target="_blank">www.chiefsplanet.com</a> (Chiefs fan). When I hit refresh, it still brought it up. It took about 6 refreshes before it fixed itself. It did it on an Anandtech article I was reading. I clicked for the next page and instead it brought up a porn site.

Any ideas?

So you have used the paranoia settings in TweakUI?

You should also turn off autocomplete.

Talk about "too much information" ! Anyway, have you tried deleting your cookies, history and internet cache ?

CACHE DECIMATOR by Forsaken Light Industries' Avery Tarasov

its freeware, but hard to find at times

Its a simple proggy that goes into the systray, right click on it and choose "armageddon". **See TweakUI doesn't completely empty the temp internet files. There's that lovely hidden windows dir...**

I'd scan your computer with AdAware; there might be some spyware program that is causing this behaviour. Get it at <a href="http://www.lavasoftusa.com" target="_blank">www.lavasoftusa.com</a>

I know. But You all would have figured out what I was talking about anyways so I might as well have just come clean with the truth anyways!

I think I have it cleaned. Downloaded & Ran both programs. Also made sure there weren't any viruses. I had a couple of quarantined files. One from today actually that was infected with JS_NOCLOSE.E which possibly could have been the problem. Who knows. It was weird to say the least.

How about opening all the index.dat files for Internet temp files and cookies files with Notepad, select all and delete, then save as new index.dat file.
