Vantec CCK-6035D

I just removed the standard AMD stock fan that came with my CPU with a Vantec 6035D copper heat sink with the Delta 6800 rpm fan.
First, the fan wasn't as annoying as I had imagined, and that is with the side panels off the case. It is louder than my other fans, but doesn't have a very high pitched whine that is really annoying.
Second, it dropped the temps, using standard cheapo thermal paste down from idling at 47 degrees Celsius, to 36 according to the VIA hardware monitor I have on my DFI AK-75EC board. Not bad, considering the room temperature is running in the high 70's to low 80's.
The clip is easy to work with, but be careful not to get the part that goes on second up too high or it might slip into the heat sink itself.
For $30-$35 this heat sink and fan combo are quite good, and it doesn't cost near as much as the swiftec models.
I added the side panels to see the difference, and the temp steadied with an idle temp of 39 degrees celsius. I am trying to figure out which neighbor/ relative/ friend has the right tools to help me cut a hole in the top of my case to add a 50mm 19cfm fan to help aid the powersupply pull some of the hot air the HSF blows out of the case. Though I've never tried any other well known HSF's, I can say that this cooler works decently enough for me to be satisfied.

Thanks for the info. I bought myself a Global Win FOP38 cooler for my Tbird 1.2ghz that also has the Delta Black Label 6800 RPM fan. You just have to love that thing. Along with a few case fans I have actually seen my tbird go down to 28 deg C before at idle

It's got a peltier. You will need good cooling and room temperatures that are steady. Peltiers tend to get so hot on the opposite side to the CPU die, that they create condensation inside the case. check <a href="http://www.octools.com/articles/socket_condensation/intro.html" target="_blank">this</a> out. There are also several other artices on the site which may help you prepare for using a peltier. It can be better than onything else. Heck, if I was running a peltier, I'd try to find a 80mm fan or a 92mm fan and the proper adapter to use it on a heat sink just to be safe. I used the basic heat sinks and fans, ans they are ok. If you want to do real overclocking, which I don't advise because I've ruined my share of hardware doing it, then peltiers are good and so are water cooling systems too. I'd personally go for water cooling instead of peltiers because I used water cooling in the military. Bone up on condensation and peltiers before buying one as they aren't the norm, and they have some strange side effects that can be disasterous if you don't have good moisture resistant coatings/ tape and a good way to move the hot air out to leave the system temperature within tolerances to avoid condensation. I realize that it is my 2 cents, but a peltier can cause a heap of problems if you aren't careful, so do some research if you haven't.
