Heh, well, how much money do you have to replace a burned out cpu? I had a k6-3 450, and couldn't get it to clock much at all. The fastest I had mine running without uping the voltage was to raise the bus speed to 112mhz and lower the clock speed to 4. This gave me an effective 448mhz processor, but with the higher bus speed all the benchmarks were higher.

I never could get the processor to make it over 500mhz. I suppose if I upped the voltage I could have, but thats when you start getting risky.

I have a K6-3 400 on a Epox Mobo. I am running it safely at 448 (112x4) 2.8V. It wont run at 2.4 at that speed and the Epox motherboards jump from 2.4 to 2.8Vcore in one step(cant figure that one out). anyway it runs great at 448 but trying to push it one ounce farther causes crashes and random lockups. I have never heard of a K6-3 400 over 450 Mhz(stable that is). By the way I am using a Alpha 6035 heatsink with a huge 27 CFM fan. Keeps mine at 79 Degrees F. It will run fine with the original heat sink but will run a little hot. maybe 115 to 120. But still in safe range.
