Setting up Network Printers
Ok, I know it's a simple and easy question. Fact of the matter is, I've done it a dozen times. But for some reason I can't get it done this time. I'm trying to set up a Win98 to share a printer with a Win2k Prof. computer. Printer is locally connected to the Win2k and the printer has been set to share, but whenever I attempt to add the printer to the Win 98 computer, I get a box asking for the username and password for IPC$. What have I forgot to do here?

IPC$ is the default system share for Win2k. What you need to do is add the Win98 user to the list of users in Win2k, name and password. Either that, or you can enable your guest account on the Win2k system, with no password. I think that'll work.

Ok, thanks Pita, that didn't fully solve my problems, but it at least got me started. After I enabled the guest account, It stopped the IPC$ from comming up, but wouldn't allow me to view the shares. I noticed I had to name the printer into one single word name. After that I was having difficulties getting the files from the sharing printer, but the HP disk helped out a lot. You know, HP Laserjet disks are actually pretty handy once in a while. They'll connect to the internet to make sure you have the most updated files and will set up printers through a variety of network situations.
