WinAmp skips a lot
Any idea what's going on? I fire it up and it has lately skipped a lot. It seems to happen when I'm downloading something...any idea? And yes the music is stored locally.

I haven't used Winamp in a while but I think you can increase it's priority with the CPU. Try a player called Apollo. It works great.

I thought that WinAmp kept light on the resources. I think the skipping problem was caused by a plug-in.
I'll try Apollo, can I have a link?

Here is a link to a lot of free mp3 players.

Apollo is about a third of the way down. I have tried several in the list. I would like to try some others also. There are just so many.

I'd try juicing up the system priority in the settings if I were you. You could always try a different version too though. In my opinion, the earlier the version, the better it works with WinAmp.
