oracle 8i on Intranetware
Can any one help me ? Please
I have been given the responsibility of installing Oracle 8i on my company`s Novell Server running Intranetware for Small Business Edition . What I want to Know is If Oracle 8i can be installed and if Yes what protocol should be used. Can I use TCP /IP. Currently the protocol is IPX/SPX.I have heard that Only Netware 5.0 and above pure TCP/IP .
Please help.

I have never had anything to do with Oracle for Netware, but there is something that you should know before you begin. Oracle has announced it will no longer support or develop its Novell stuff in the future. So this path you are about to embark on is going to be a dead-end one. Something to consider before you get this all setup, then having to dump the whole thing later when you have problems that can't be solved or you need to expand/upgrade the database!
From what my searches turned up, it looks like Oracle 8i will run on your server. Check this FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com/faqnetwr.htm . You will need gobs of RAM in the server though to handle the database activity.
As for what protocol to use, you can use TCP/IP if you want. We use GroupWise email on our Netware servers and it is 100% IP - even though Netware 4.x is not.

I agree with Mac. Seen the same article, have you considered another Data base like SQL?
