Post Mobile Networking/Computing

im a business consultant that switches domains all day long on a win2k laptop. my question to you guys is this...

is there a way logically to not have to manually
switch the domain names and/or static ip route
information every time i go to another network?

ive read that winxp pro has a new feature called
network location awareness. ive read a little bit
on it, but it doesnt seem to really answer my
problem. im not lazy believe it or not. i just
think this should be something automatic for the
pc that gets plugged into different networks. it
should somehow know or recognize what information
its going to use to connect. i only have 1 ethercard (not usb) and need help on this. ive
seen a winxp pro desktop box before in the tcp/ip settings... there is an alternate configuration.
is this what that network awareness location is
talking about? because if it is... that still
doesnt change my domain name under computer name under my computer properties. oh well if anybody
knows of something then holler at me. thanks
and long live the lemmings!

I don't know of anything. The problem is that you can only belong to one domain at any one time. Norton mobile essentials used to switch IP information but I don't know of anything current that does the same thing.

Check out a program called Netswitcher, available from www.netswitcher.com

It keeps IP info, Domain/workgroup, IE settings, mapped drives, default printer and many other settings for each individual site, and the number of sites you have stored is unlimited.

It's great for 'executive' laptop users who aren't capable of learning how to change their own settings. I think it's only $8 per license. Saves me a couple hours of phone support each week.
