    Post Slow Printing

I am trying to get an epson colour printer to work over a windows 2000 peer to peer network.

The trouble is it prints so slowly on any PC other than the one its connected to!

The drivers are the latest epson drivers and the ethernet cards are 10/100 using a netgear router. File transfer over the network is fine, only printing is the problem.... it can take up to 5 minutes for a single page letter to be sent to the printer, once its there it prints fine...

    Thanks for your help

the size of a print file (when you hit print) is incredibally small part of the process. All of the work is done on the Host (machine that is connected to the printer...) to help you hout here we need to know the system specz of your machines, not just os, but RAM, CPU, and the likes ....

What service packs are you running on the machines? Microsoft recommends updating the service packs as there has been a similar issue to what you are reporting.

Put the printer on the machine that has the most horsepower. If that's not an option, then you can pick up a print server box for it.

The machine with the printer attached only has SP1 the others have SP2, so I will update the printer machine to SP2

The machines are all Dell Optiplex with a 1GHZ P3 and 512MB SD RAM, On board LAN cards made by 3com
they are all low profile cases so swaping cards is tricky as most cards are full form factor. I have tried unistalling all network components, protocols etc , and reinstalling them....but I still have the same problems.
