Reminds me of the following America's Dumbest Criminals episode:

Guy walks in, robs a convenience store...clerk says, as he is walking out, the clerk says "We'll find you" so he says "It'll take you a loong time to find old [the guy's name]". How long did it take? About 30 seconds (looked him up in the phone book)

    That's scary stupid

What was he thinking, "If I apologize they'll let me go because I'm so polite"?!

It keeps baffling me how some people just assume the world owes it to them to be treated "special"

Here in the Dayton area, we had another mental giant. He walked in to a supermarket, bought a candybar, & gave the cashier his Kroger Saver Card (which you register for with your name & address). When the cashier opened the till, he grabbed some money & ran. The police were waiting for him when he got home.

    Talking

Just another sign that God couldn't grace everyone with intelligence... and apparently he didn't get any common sense either.

    Cool

I say one on a stupid criminals show that tried to rob an off licence/7-11 shop, wearing a cardboard box on his head to hide his face.

He went charging through the doors waving his pistol and the box got jammed in the doorway. The owner just called the police and stood laughing.

    One of my favorites:

This couple (not sure if husband & wife or boyfriend / girl friend – anyhow they reside at the same address) committed armed robbery at a bank. Her job apparently was to cover the entrance while he gathered the money etc.
While she was waiting she noticed a sweepstakes giveaway contest, so she filled out an entry card –complete with their name and address and dropped it in the box!

When I was working in Computer Renaissance we had two shoplifters strike... their plan was pretty good, they cased the place in advance a few times, came in and figured out the habits and styles of the staff members, etc. Then they stole a laptop.

They did not one, but TWO incredibly stupid things. Firstly, prior do doing this, they sold us some of their old computer junk--providing their full name and address and phone number for us to contact them after we had tested it. (This also required them to show us picture ID and for them to sign a form.)

Second, one of them was goofing off with a webcam we had on display on the floor, and took his own picture and saved it to the desktop!!! When the police came in, we showed it to them, complete with the date and time stamp on the file to show when it had been saved.

When the police arrested them, they maintainted for several hours that they had never, EVER been in our store, even in the face of our statements, our possession of their signature, and the photographic evidence...
    Flash! Don't heckle the supervillain!
